Hi everyone,
I hope this message finds you well and hopefully recovered from the activities you had (safely and socially distant) with the Super Bowl. Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for being the first team in NFL history to win a Super Bowl in their home stadium. As a Saints fan it was difficult to swallow, but at least the champion is from the NFC and it’s a Florida team. Now, onto some housekeeping matters…
Normally, the Chairman of the Board would announce the results of the Board of Director and Associate Director elections, but since Bonna was running, it’s up to me to make the announcements. I would like to welcome back to the Board, Bonna Larson, Natalie Blackwell, and Candace Rich. I would also like to welcome the newest member of the Board of Directors, Frank Maggio. With his ties to the Seminole Alumni Association, and also being a past president of the Sarasota Seminole Boosters, I know he will bring a fresh outlook and new ideas with how can move the Board forward in the coming years. Please look forward to a welcome letter from me in the coming days.
For the membership, I would like you to place the following dates on your calendar. The Spring Game this year is on April 10. If you haven’t been to Doak in a while and would like to see our Seminoles finish their spring practices and the Marching Chiefs as they go through their Drum Major tryouts, this is an excellent opportunity to come back home to Tallahassee. Also the schedule for FSU Football has been released, and we will be playing UMass for Homecoming on October 23. In the coming months we’ll find out about the capacity limits of Doak and whether the Chiefs and Alumni will be able to take the field or if at least we’ll be able to be in the stands. Please be on the lookout for upcoming messages from the Board or myself regarding the fall.
In sad news, in the past few months, we’ve lost members of our Marching Chiefs family: saxophone player and former FSU Band Alumni Association Executive Director Barry Davis, Royal Flush member and Tau Beta Sigma sister, Allison Walker-Lavette, and most recently Screech Squad member and Kappa Kappa Psi brother, Kenneth Turner. Please keep your thoughts and prayers for their families and friends. They would appreciate it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email.
Have a great day…if you want to.
MCATDT!!
