Elections for the FSUMCA Board of Directors are now open through 11:59 PM Eastern Time on October 27.
Please take the opportunity to review the below biographies for each of our candidates and follow the link to the ballot. This year we have 5 candidates running for 4 board positions and one candidate running for re-election of their Executive Officer Board Position. We ask that you please vote for only 4 Board seat candidates and 1 Executive Officer candidate, otherwise your ballot will be invalid.

Frank Maggio
Frank Maggio is originally from Naples, FL. He attended FSU from ’93-’98, graduated with a BA, was a member of Marching Chiefs (Tenor Saxophone) and Brother of Kappa Kappa Psi. Since moving to Sarasota in 2001, Frank has worked in banking, been involved in the community with several industry and non-profit organizations, some as Chair. He spent the last 15 years with Seminole Clubs, having served as President in both Sarasota and Manatee. Frank has helped raise over $100k for FSU and specifically scholarships to high school students attending FSU.

Candace Rich
Candace Rich was a student at FSU from 1994-2000, playing Flute/Piccolo with the Marching Chiefs 1994-1996. In Chiefs she served as a row leader and as a non-music major, she actively participated in Campus Band and was a sister of Tau Beta Sigma. Candace moved to Jacksonville with her husband after graduation and she had 2 sons who are now young adults. She also has a weekly radio segment on Real Radio 104.1 fm in Orlando, FL called “Rich Tips” where she gives advice on ways to save and invest money.

Natalie Blackwell
Natalie Montgomery Blackwell performed with the Marching Chiefs as a member of the Flag & Rifle Line from 1996 – 1999. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, with Honors, in 2000. Natalie holds the financial certifications of Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager, and Project Management Professional, and is currently working in Project Management. She has served as Finance Chair since 2013, providing financial statements and analysis for the operating and scholarship funds. Natalie is currently working with the College of Music and other FSUMCA Committee Chairs on a collaborative fundraising campaign to support the Chiefs year round. She has held season tickets since 2001, founded the Chattanooga Seminole Club in 2011, received the FSU Alumni Association Unconquered Spirit Award in 2018, and Homecoming is her favorite day of the year.

Bonna Larson
is re-running for his position on the board of directors.
Bonna Larson was a member of the French Horn, now HornZ, section of Marching Chiefs, Concert Band and the Basketball Pep Band from 1986 through 1989. She served as a row leader with Marching Chiefs and is an alumni sister of Tau Beta Sigma. Bonna continue to play and is currently a member of the Weeki Wachee Wind Symphonic Band and is a former member of the Hernando County Symphony Orchestra. She is a Florida Registered and Certified Paralegal working in the field of Community Association law in Tampa and currently resides with her husband and daughter on the Weeki Wachee River, the land of Mermaids.

Doyle David Smith
Royal Flush 1982-89, Staff 1989, Graduate of The School of Music, Charter Tubists of Tallahassee Winds and a sole proprietor of a local business. He played Tuba in Marching Chiefs and was on staff. He was a band manager and a copyist as well. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music at Florida State University. He has performed with the Bay Wind Band, the St. Andrew Bay Orchestra, Tallahassee Brass Quintet, Cascade Brass Quintet, and is a charter member of Tallahassee Winds. Doyle has spent forty years in the hospitality industry and has retired and proceed to open his own business. He has also continued to support the Chiefs with video interviews on LIT, Live-In-Tallahassee. Tallahassee is his permanent residence.
Executive Board Position- Associate Director for Activities

Shanna Miller
Shanna Miller graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Political Science. She played cymbals in the Marching Chiefs for the 2004 & 2005 seasons, served as a row leader, and was cymbal section leader. Shanna also played percussion in Seminole Sound, participates annually in FSUMCA Homecoming, and whenever possible, returns with the alumni band members during the holiday season at the basketball games. She is Marketing Coordinator and Administrative Manager with Fitzgerald Collaborative Group, LLC (Architecture, Urban Design, Interiors). Shanna lives in Tallahassee with her husband, Steven Miller (Screech ’01-’05), and two daughters. She has served as a member of the Marching Chiefs Alumni Board since 2019. As Associate Director for Activities, Shanna enjoys collaborating with the Board on new and fun ways to engage with the Alumni and coordinating Homecoming weekend activities.
